Believe it or not Christian Dior was heir to a fertilizer fortune rather than a clothes company heir. He attended catholic school and he created his first fashion house in 1946, twelve years later he expanded his business to 15 countries and had over 2000 employees. He became a leader in the business in no time. Towards the end of Christian’s life he was rather sickly, he needs injections to wake him in the morning and more injections to help him sleep. At the time of his death he had salons opened in 24 countries. The Dior Company had designers, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferre and John Galliano under their label.
Soon the Dior label began catering to men’s clothes and colognes but it is the women’s fashions and the long line of perfumes that made this company a success. Some of his best selling perfumes are Chris 1947, Dior Dior, Dolce Vita, Eau Noire, Dune, Diorama, Dior Addict, Lily, Lily Dior, Poison, Midnight Charm, Pure Poison, Fahrenheit, Higher and Eau Svelte.
Some of the Dior perfumes do have a slightly heavier scent than those perfumes that are endorsed by celebrities. Some of them have floral scents and others are a heavier citrus smell. There are not many young people who use Dior but mostly corporate types and women in their late 30’s and 40’s tend to buy Dior according to researchers. They have so many scents to choose from, you will like what you smell.
