Sensuous perfume is that special extra for the modern woman. The job of the perfumer is to compose and find the perfect fragrance to be marketed as perfume. You have to have a great sense of smell in order to be a perfumer. A perfumer is well trained in the depths on the concepts of fragrances and which scents smell nice and which ones don’t. A perfumer has to be able to tell each individual smell and has to be able to indentify it through other ingredients. The composition of a perfume begins with a brief by the perfumers’ boss. The customer is the perfumers’ boss. For example, the perfumer is creating a scent for Elizabeth Arden, and then the company would be the perfumers’ boss.
Then each brief will have the specifications for the perfume and will have the terms and conditions of what the perfume should consist of. What is should smell like and how it should feel. The consistency of the perfume is just as important as the smell. A list of ingredients have to be made and then how the outcome came out.
Then it is decided whether or not the scent will be used in what capacity. Should it be used in perfume, shampoo, cologne, and make up, detergents, car smells and soaps? The perfumer maybe inspired to create a perfume that he can market to other companies; it just isn’t all about a company hiring the perfumer. It can be the perfumer finding a market for his creation.
